Release Notes

What's new in Dazl — features, improvements, and bug fixes.

March 31, 2026

What's New

  • Spec creation: Click + New in the Specs panel to create a spec from built-in templates (PRD, System Prompt, Technical Design, User Flow) or your own custom templates.
  • Edit comments and replies: You can now edit your own comments and replies. Edit actions only appear on comments you authored. See Comments.
  • Auto-attach active file to chat: The Chat panel automatically attaches the file from the active code or spec editor tab as context.
  • Modifier keys for margin and padding: Hold Alt while dragging a margin or padding handle to edit opposite sides together. Hold Shift to edit all sides at once. See Visual Editing.

Improvements

  • Modifier key hints: A tooltip showing available keyboard modifiers appears when you drag a margin or padding handle.
  • Smarter margin handles: Vertical margin handles no longer appear on inline elements, where top and bottom margins have no effect.
  • Comment character limit: The comment input shows a character count indicator.
  • Chat panel resizer controls: Controls on the left sidebar resizer let you expand the Chat panel to full height or collapse it.
  • Team members on the Dashboard: Project cards on the Dashboard now show team member avatars.
  • Comments panel polish: The comments panel has an additional close button, improved reply button alignment, and corrected pill text in dark mode.
  • Add Panel auto-edit: Dragging an element from the Add Panel automatically switches to Edit mode if you're in Preview mode.
  • Plan editor tweaks: The Regenerate Plan button has been removed. The home page URI field now shows validation instead of being disabled. New features and sections receive a counter suffix. Empty action menus on page cards are hidden.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed modifier keys (Alt, Cmd, Shift) getting stuck after taking a macOS screenshot.
  • Fixed a misleading dynamic text notification that referenced the Props tab. It now reads "Ask AI to edit."
  • When signing in from the LinkedIn iOS in-app browser, a notice now guides you to open your default browser.

March 25, 2026

What's New

  • Comments: You can now leave comments on any page in your project. Navigate to a page, add a comment, and collaborate with your team in a threaded panel.
  • Improved first generation agent: The agent that builds your first project now produces better designs and has access to web crawling and searching tools, giving it more context to work with.
  • Add Panel: A new sidebar panel that shows all media files in your project. Browse images, videos, and other assets, use the scopes selector to filter them, and attach media to chat conversations with a context toggle.
  • Typing indicators: When a collaborator is typing in the Chat panel, a typing indicator shows their name so you know a message is on the way.
  • Drag-and-drop chat attachments: Drag files and folders from the Files panel or media tab directly into the chat input to attach them to your message.
  • Distance measurement: Hold Alt and hover over an element to see pixel distances between it and the selected element. Distance lines with labels appear as an overlay on the canvas.

Improvements

  • Spec validation: The plan editor now validates your project spec before building. Errors are highlighted by section, and the Build button is disabled until the spec is valid.
  • Light and dark mode suggestion: When your project supports only one color scheme, a callout suggests adding support for the other. The AI can add the missing theme for you.
  • Fix with AI for invalid routes: If a dynamic route in the Pages dropdown points to a 404 or returns an error, a Fix with AI button appears to resolve it.
  • Plan tab: The plan editor now opens in its own dedicated tab in the center area instead of appearing as a preview overlay.
  • Duplicate name prevention: Creating a file or folder with a name that already exists in the same directory shows a toast notification instead of silently overwriting.
  • Expandable message queue titles: Long titles in the message queue can be expanded to read the full text.
  • Smoother style editing: CSS transitions are temporarily disabled while you edit styles through the Editing Toolbar or drag handles, preventing visual jitter during adjustments.
  • Components button visibility: The Components button in the address bar is hidden when the project has no component gallery route defined.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where app generation in default mode could use the wrong AI model, causing generation failures.
  • Fixed chat sections expanding unexpectedly when hovering on Safari.
  • Fixed scrollbars always appearing in the chat selector on Windows, and long chat titles wrapping incorrectly.
  • Fixed the code editor not jumping to a new location when the file is already open in a tab.
  • Fixed search results opening in the primary tab area instead of the secondary tab group.
  • Fixed cursor styles for resizer controls and added a visible border to the resize handle.
